Dimuth Karunaratne, who missed the Test series versus England due to a thumb injury, is back in the Test squad and will captain the side. Incidentally, he will also lead the side in the upcoming ODI series against the same opponent. Dhananjaya de Silva and Pathum Nissanka have also made it to the squad. Dhananjaya was ruled out of the Test series versus England after he sustained a thigh injury in South Africa. Meanwhile, Pathum Nissanka is still to make his Test debut. The promising batsman averages an impressive 67.54 in first-class cricket and has played two T20Is for the country. On the other hand, Lahiru Kumara, the quick bowler, will miss the series after he was tested positive for Covid-19. Kasun Rajitha, who suffered an injury in South Africa hasn’t found a place in the squad.
