Q. As Earthmoving equipment and road construction equipment account for close to 70% of India’s construction equipment market. Are the government initiatives over infra development really making a change on the ground level and reflecting a shift in policy?A. The NIP (National Infrastructure Pipeline) is a USD 1.4 Tn Government investment plan spread over the next 5 years. Of this, the Centre and State account for 39 % each and the Private sector will invest 22 %.About 40 % of these projects were already in various stages of implementation before being brought under this umbrella. Road Projects constitute 30 % of these projects under implementation. The rest are at conceptualization or under development stage.This pipeline brings a greater focus & transparency in pushing the projects towards execution & helps monitoring on a continuous basis through a dashboard.Road project awards in the period Apr to Oct 2020 have grown >90 % and this is driving demand.
