2 The all-too-familiar trifecta of heat, gusty, dry winds and potential power shut-offs is again in the forecast this week. And with it, of course, comes fire danger — and a red flag warning. Just as firefighters are gaining the upper hand on the Glass and Zogg fires, both sparked during prior bouts of dry, gusty winds, the National Weather Service has issued the warning, which means conditions are forecast that could make it easier for a wildfire to start and cause it to quickly spread out of control. The red flag warning begins at 5 a.m. Wednesday and extends until 11 a.m. Friday in the North Bay mountains, East Bay hills and Santa Cruz Mountains. The NWS on Tuesday also added the North Bay and East Bay valleys to the fire warning area. Early afternoon Tuesday, two of the Bay Area fire-prone neighbors Lake and Mendocino counties, joined the red-flag list.
