Riding on a BJP wave across the country, several top Congress-NCP leaders joined the saffron party ahead of the Maharashtra elections anticipating better portfolios and political prospects. But now, with the BJP giving up their claim to form the government amid a fight with ally Shiv Sena, despite ‘Mahayuti’ getting a majority, does the future look bleak for several veteran politicians? And will their hopes of being in power be dashed now? Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, a former minister and the leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra assembly, Vikhe Patil quit the Congress party and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) soon after his son contested Lok Sabha polls on the BJP ticket and even won the seat. In the last Cabinet re-shuffle of Devendra Fadnavis government, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil was also inducted as the housing minister.
