A Belper gym is set to close at the end of the month, after receiving several noise complaints from local residents. Crossfit Amber Valley, which is located in a residential area in Queen Street, Belper, was issued with a council notice in January, instructing the gym to reduce its noise emissions. The owners altered opening hours, turned music down, and even spoke to acoustic consultants, as they tried to keep the gym open for its 182 members. But they have now decided to take the “unwanted decision” to close the gym on Sunday, March 31, admitting that it would be very difficult and expensive to reduce the noise suffienciently. Judith Gration, joint-owner and fitness coach, said: “We are currently in a unit in the middle of Belper and are too noisy for local residents.
