The new chief executive of Liverpool council has said some city developments are “sub-par” – and that the council should turn down developments that aren’t good enough. And Tony Reeves said the council needed to be more “transparent” on how it worked with developers. Mr Reeves took charge at the authority some seven weeks ago, succeeding Ged Fitzgerald . This morning, in one of his first public appearances, he spoke to a group of leaders from the city’s development scene who are preparing for next month’s Mipim UK property conference in London. Mr Reeves said he was “excited” to start his new job and was looking forward to meeting and working with city businesses. He said some “great stuff” had been happening in the city and that great progress had been made.
