La Quoc Khanh, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Tourism, noted firms from the two countries will discuss these plans at a conference on Vietnam-China tourism cooperation as part of the 2018 International Travel Expo, to be held in HCMC’s Phu My Hung Urban Area. “The number of Chinese tourists to Vietnam will grow strongly next year,” Khanh remarked at a press conference on August 21 to introduce the 2018 International Travel Expo in HCMC, adding that the firms will focus on suggesting measures to improve service quality for visitors. China ranked the highest among HCMC’s top ten source markets last year, with over 600,000 Chinese arrivals in HCMC. The city saw the number rising stably over the first few months of 2018. The conference will also feature various seminars involving market and product development and the application of technology to the tourism sector.
