Up to 40 new jobs are on their way to this hi-tech Derby firm

Up to 40 new jobs are on their way to an award-winning Derby electronics firm at a new state-of-the-art research and development facility. Pektron Group, which designs and manufactures bespoke electronics for a range of sectors, particularly automotive, has been given permission to construct the four-storey building in Alfreton Road. Pektron’s site, which is south of the roundabout with the A61 Sir Frank Whittle Road, is divided in two by Alfreton Road. An existing Pektron building on one side of the road, which dates back to the 1960s, will be demolished to make way for the new structure. The building to be bulldozed was the firm’s original headquarters when it was founded in 1964 by George Morgan. But according to the original planning application, which was submitted back it February, it had “exceeded its design life” and the firm wanted to replace it with a more modern research and development building.
