Belarus, Russia urged to pursue proactive agriculture policy

GORKI, 7 September (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia need to join efforts in the agricultural sector and be more proactive in order to stay current and ensure the food security of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Alexander Popkov, the Chairman of the Regional Policy and Local Self-Government Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, said at the international conference “The Union State agricultural policy: experience, problems and prospects” in the town of Gorki, Belarus on 7 September. “Only by aligning our interests, by identifying specific areas of work, we will be able to become are a power not afraid of any third-party sanctions. Development of innovative animal production systems and breeding genetic centers should become an important area of work in this respect,” Alexander Popkov said.
