Deputy PM calls for regional links for Asia’s brighter future

Tokyo (VNA) – The maintenance of peace and stability through strengthening regional cooperation and building trust among nations are crucial to develop an Asia of peace, prosperity and sustainable growth, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung said on May 30 during the 22nd Asia Future Conference in Tokyo, Japan. The Deputy PM highlighted the need to respect the legitimate sovereignty and interest of each country, as well as the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures in respect of international law and the United Nations’ Charter. At the same time, it is necessary to strengthen regional connections, to create favourable conditions for trade, investment and the movement of labout among countries, while developing human resources and maintaining a harmonious society by people oriented-core development strategies, he said. He also stressed the necessity of seeking long-term solutions to non-traditional challenges on the basis of ensuring a balance of interest. Deputy PM Dung affirmed the Vietnamese Government’s determination to speed up measures that boost rapid and sustainable economic growth, making Vietnam an industrialised country in a modern orientation. Vietnam will continue speeding up economic restructuring in line with transforming its growth model, building a favourable and transparent business and investment environment, while prioritising infrastructure and human resources development and global integration, thus creating a more extensive growth space, he stated. He also called on Japanese firms to invest more in Vietnam ’s support industry and agriculture, as well as six other prioritised areas, noting that the Trans-Pacific Partnership will open up new opportunities…
